Walk on the Wild Side

This quest for the class is called Walk on the Wild Side; it’s about exploring and critiquing a conspiracy theory that is running around out there. The conspiracy I have decided to look at is one about rapper and actor Tupac Shakur and if he faked his death after being shot in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. I hadn’t thought about this conspiracy theory in a long time but after seeing the clips and headlines of the 3- D hologram of Tupac performing at the 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

I thought it would be an interesting one to take a look at. Most of the claims out there range from sightings of Tupac, much like the one’s people claim to have of Elvis, that he is alive and living in Cuba because he wanted out of the limelight to the more in depth one’s that he was kill for breaking the Oath with the Illuminati/Baphomet that had made him famous in the place. For the quest though I’m going to look at one of the reasons people believe Tupac is still alive and is going to make his return in 2014.

This theory is based on Tupac using the alias Makaveli as his new stage name in his final record that was made before his death, The DonKilluminati: The 7 Day Theory that was released shortly after his death. The theory is based on the play of the name Makaveli which is in reference to Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli who was a philosopher based in Florence during the Renaissance. In one of Machiavelli books The Art of War he writes about a strategy for a prince to fake his own death so he can plot behind the scenes against his enemies. Machiavelli also wrote in Discourses upon the First Ten Books of Titus Livy, “that a prince who wishes to achieve great things must learn to deceive...” Tupac claims to have read the Machiavelli books several time while in jail and out of jail.

Tupac was killed when he was 25 and according to the theory the original Machiavelli published this plot for a fake death at 25 with a return at the age of 43, making the return of Tupac if he is alive sometime in 2014. On the album’s sleeve of The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory contains the text “Exit 2Pac, Enter Makaveli” which is thought to be a clue of him killing himself as Tupac and becoming Makaveli. The cover of the album also depicts Tupac on a cross which is thought to convey his message of being crucified by the media and is intended to imply an artistic and according to the theory a literal resurrection after his death. Some also believe the reason Tupac changed the spelling of the name Machiavelli to Makaveli is because if you rearrange the letters it spells “I Am Alive.” Another visual clue people believe is a hint to him still being alive is that is the music video for the song “Hail Mary”, which is the second song on The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory album, there is a cracked gravestone with the name Makaveli on it and an empty hole in front implying that he rose from the dead.

Tupac started using the name Makaveli on his All Eyez on Me album which was released 7 months to the day before his presumed death on September 13th 1996. This is the start of the second part of this theory, the amount of the number 7 involved in the events surrounding his death. His death was recorded at 4:03 p.m. if added up 4+3=7, he was shot on the 7th day of September and survived 6 days (7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th) after be shot died on the 7th day the 13th of September, and he was killed when he was 25 if added up is 2+5=7. Apparently having the number 7 in the title of The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, and it being a part of so many of the other thing surrounding his death, it is an indication that it was all a planned event.

From what I can tell most of the conspiracy theory around the death of Tupac and all the sources on the internet that I have looked at are just that, theories. Most of the websites and the videos posted on YouTube are fans that have a whole lot of theories and opinions of what happened to one of their hero’s. Some of the video’s and websites are very well put together but just like many other conspiracy theory they lack the hard evidence and facts it takes to prove most of the theories. I think the most of the sources are only credible to the point that it’s what they believe and if you watch their argument and agree with it or don’t it’s still the creators opinion of the events and symbols around Tupac’s death.

My conclusion is that I think it could be plausible that Tupac might have paid the right people and faked his own death and just might return in 2014, but my gut is telling me he died on September 13, 1996 in Las Vegas. His death was a blow to the rap community and being considered one the best rappers before and after his death he had many loyal fans that don’t want to let go. I think it’s similar to Elvis and all the theories surrounding his death, when you have people that are great artist and so many people love when they are gone it’s hard for people to let go of them, especially when they died tragically and leave so many loose ends in their fans eyes. 2014 is coming up fast and we shall see if Tupac while come out of hiding and be greeted by the IRS I’m sure or if the theories on the web will have to change.
